Transcendence

Transcendence is a text-based narrative game exploring speculative futures in transgender healthcare. The game invites the player to inhabit the role of Max, a transgender person from the year 2124. As the user roleplays as Max -- making story choices about their futuristic transition -- they learn about the possibilities for gender exploration that would be afforded by a more open societal approach to medical transition, as well as the ways in which transgender people in the present era suffer for a lack of accomodating healthcare. As transgender healthcare becomes increasingly under threat, it becomes imperative, now more than ever, to create media such as Transcendence that seeks to celebrate, demystify, and imagine the many different ways trans people celebrate and explore their bodies.

Transcendence is hosted on the Itch independent gaming platform, but is available to play by users and non-users of the site. The imagined audience for this piece is any person in their teens or older who wishes to both learn more about the transgender experience and speculate upon possible futures where trans healthcare is as much of a non-issue as updating your shots or having your blood pressure checked.
